Silent Isle, my vessel for contemplative stretched-out songwriting, was born in early 2011. In May, I recorded a three-track album, Scales of Erosion, in a silo in White Creek, NY. In August, I self-released those recordings on CD-R in an edition of 50. From September through November, I wrote, recorded and released Sylvan Pass, which first self-released and then later released on Gilded Throne Recordings on a split with Belltonesuicide. Couldn’t have been larger than an edition of 50, maybe even 25. I booked a week-long solo tour in early December, performing Sylvan Pass in its entirety every night in basements, living rooms, and small record shops. Summer Mummy also continued to perform in Hudson, NY, where most of us lived together.
